Queen's Park Hypocrites:
Dalton's Anti-Poverty Committee
Politicians usually won't shut up when given the chance to speak, unedited, to the people.
Add the issue of poverty into the equation and the silence is deafening.
There are nearly 750,000 social assistance recipients in Ontario. In September 2007 there were 369,041
welfare recipients
and 342,940
ODSP recipients. All of
these adults and children are looking to Dalton's anti-poverty team for help. They aren't going to get it.
For shame on the members of Dalton's anti-poverty committee. Early in December
The Toronto Tribune sent a question to every single member of the anti-poor team.
It was the same question that had been sent to all four party leaders prior to the election.
Dalton was the first party leader to respond. Then the election occurred and caring for anyone other than
their sorry selves wasn't necessary at least not for the next four years.
These immature spoiled brats decided that one would answer the question, the head of the useless anti-poor committee
Deb Matthews. Her reply didn't answer the question it provided Liberal
propaganda that
we will not run. Editorial control of The Toronto Tribune remains with us and
we did not and will not allow a self-serving pathetic politician to change that policy. Had their reply actually answered the question we would,
as is our policy, have run the answer. We play fair, something the Liberal hypocrites, clearly
do not understand.
Creativity: not from any Ontario Liberal. Spending a few minutes stepping into the old worn shoes
of a poor person struggling to survive - wasn't an option for Dalton's anti-the-poor
committee, the eight member hand selected team to do absolutely nothing to address poverty issues.
They'll be too busy stuffing their faces and sipping coffee on the rare
occasions that they meet to discuss the hungry.
Concern for the poor will be saved for photo ops. This was a golden opportunity for all of them to demonstrate
they want to address the issues by taking a few moments to try to understand the daily struggle for food and shelter.
That they failed, heck couldn't even be bothered to try, means they used the backs of the poor for their own political gains.
If they had a conscience, which they don't, they'd be completely ashamed of themselves.
The Queen's Park Hypocrites on Dalton's anti-the-poor committee are Health Minister George Smitherman; Finance Minister Dwight Duncan;
Education Minister Kathleen Wynne; Municipal Affairs Minister Jim
Watson; Training, Colleges and Universities Minister John Milloy;
Attorney General Chris Bentley and Citizenship and Immigration Minister
Michael Chan chaired by Children
and Youth Services Minister Deb Matthews.
Now that
the Liberals have another majority caring for the poor is lip service as demonstrated
by the morons on his asinine committee.
This anti-the-poor team did manage to accomplish one change at The Toronto Tribune.
We thought the biggest waste of space in Queen's Park was George
Smitherman, an MPP unaware that elected officials can change laws.
There are a lot of MPP's just as pathetic as Smitherman, we thought he was the worst of the bunch. We stand corrected.
There are at least 7 other MPPs just as useless as George Smitherman.
Dalton answered the question prior to the October 10th
Election.
Welfare & me
As an M.P.P. you will reside in Toronto, imagine that you have a monthly budget of
exactly $349 for housing including utilities and $211 for all other expenses
(food, transportation, clothing, personal grooming items, etc) or a total of $560 per month in income. Please provide your budget or method of living on a
monthly income of $560. Assume this is for a single person living in Toronto.
Dalton's response
"To take further action to deal with poverty and to expand opportunity for all
Ontarians, we will:
- Build a comprehensive poverty reduction strategy around the Ontario
Child Benefit. We will work with our partners to develop indicators and
targets to measure and address child poverty. Our first step will be to
support dental services for low-income Ontario families
- Building on our first term successes in education and Best Start, we will
appoint an Early Learning Advisor to provide advice on developing and
funding a full-day pre-school program
- Create a long-term strategy for affordable housing, together with our
partners. We will ensure this strategy contains a mix of non-profit and cooperative
housing, and takes advantage of creative financing options
- Join with financial institutions to create a new program to help low-income
Ontarians build equity and save for a home, their or their children’s
education, or to start their own business."
The Toronto Tribune ran Dalton's answer unedited as is our policy with party platforms
during elections, that
it said nothing was an issue for the electorate not the The Toronto Tribune.
